Somalia Mourns Zambia’s Former President Lungu

Mogadishu – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has extended his deepest condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Zambia following the passing of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

In a statement issued on Friday, President Mohamud praised Lungu’s legacy as a statesman and lauded his bold commitment to regional diplomacy during his tenure.

“We commend his statesmanship and bold commitment to regional diplomacy. Somalia stands in solidarity with the Zambian people in this moment of national mourning,” the Somali President said.

Former President Lungu led Zambia from 2015 to 2021 and was widely recognized for his role in maintaining stability and promoting regional cooperation across Africa.

Somalia joins other African nations in mourning his passing and celebrating his enduring contributions to the continent’s political landscape.
