Somalia National Bureau of Statistics Represented at AU Session on Governance

The Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) sent its representatives to the African Union’s Special Technical Working Group Session on governance, peace, and security this week.

Their presence at the discussions is a significant step toward strengthening governance statistics in Somalia.

The session’s focus on refining the Action Plan, establishing core governance, peace, and security (GPS) indicators for Agenda 2063, and reviewing survey methodologies aligns well with SNBS’s efforts to enhance data-driven decision-making.

As SNBS prepares to release the Second Edition of the Governance Statistics Report, the insights gained from this session will likely contribute to improving the quality and relevance of the report.

By aligning with continental frameworks like Agenda 2063 and adopting best practices in governance statistics, SNBS can ensure that its data collection and reporting methodologies are robust and internationally comparable.

This engagement also underscores Somalia’s commitment to advancing governance and peace through evidence-based policies, which is crucial for achieving sustainable development and stability in the region.

The collaboration with the African Union and other stakeholders will further strengthen SNBS’s capacity to produce reliable and actionable governance statistics, ultimately supporting Somalia’s development goals.
