Somalia Needs Funding to Cope with Effects of Climate Change

Special Presidential Envoy for Drought Response has issued a call for funding for Somalia in light of the worsening effects of climate change.

Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, the Special Envoy, issued the call on Monday.

He mentioned that Somalia has not done anything to contribute to the causes of climate change that continue to ravage the world.

“We have done nothing to contribute to climate change. However, we suffer its dire consequences,” Abdishakur added.

To this end, he appealed for funding to enable Somalia to deal with the effects of climate change.

Effects of climate change include hotter temperatures and more severe storms.

Other effects are increased drought, warming and rising ocean, the loss of species, food scarcity, higher health risks, poverty, and displacement.
