With the technical and financial support of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health of Somalia successfully piloted the Electronic Immunization Register (EIR) in 14 healthcare facilities across the Benadir region.
This digital system enhances the monitoring and recording of vaccination data, ensuring more accurate and efficient immunization tracking for children and adults.
The pilot phase has demonstrated significant improvements in data reliability, reporting timeliness, and vaccine stock management.
Building on this success, the ministry, in collaboration with WHO and other health partners, plans to scale up the EIR system to additional regions, aiming to strengthen national immunization coverage and support Somalia’s broader health information system reforms.
