Abdirashid Hassan Nur has escaped from police detention.
The former security minister in the regional state of Jubaland in Somalia, has been in police detention in Mogadishu.
The Federal Government of Somalia placed him in detention after accusing him of “grave violations of human rights.”
According to the government, Mr. Nur also killed several civilians in the Gedo Region.
Zakia Hussen, the region’s deputy police commissioner, says, “The former security minister of Jubaland, Abdirashir Hassan, escaped from the Mogadishu detention center this morning.”
Zakia went on to say, “Security agencies are pursuing him with the aim of arresting him at the earliest possible opportunity.”
