Somalia is ready for the second phase of the counterterrorism operations against the Al-Shabaab militant group.
Hussein Sheikh-Ali, the National Security Advisor, revealed this on Monday.
Sheikh-Ali added that the government is prepared to launch the second phase of operations against the terrorist group in various locations around the country.
“The exit strategy and drawdown plan by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) is also right on schedule,” he reiterated.
He confirmed that ATMIS would be out of Somalia by December 2024 as per the AU plan.
“Our government is ready to assume all security responsibilities,” Sheikh-Ali added.
