Somalia Receives 302,400 Johnson & Johnson Vaccines from the US

Somalia has received a donation of 302,400 Johnson & Johnson vaccines from the United States to help it combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The East African nation received the doses on Thursday, August 12.

Officials from the Ministry of Health were on hand to receive the doses on behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

US donated the vaccines through the COVAX facility.

On its part, the health ministry expressed gratitude to the government of the US for the donation.

According to the health ministry, this is the first batch of the vaccines. It expects to receive the next batch soon.

This comes only a day after the French government also donated over 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca to the Horn of Africa nation.
