Somalia Receives 42 Tons of COVID-19 Medical Supplies from EU Team

A plane carrying 42 tons of medical supplies from EU Humanitarian Air Bridge arrived in Somalia from Brindisi, Italy.

Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, several Italian civil society organizations, and multiple international NGOs coordinated the donation.

Furthermore, two more planes carrying a similar type of cargo are scheduled to depart Brindisi and arrive in Mogadishu in the next few days.

The medical supplies that landed in Mogadishu yesterday comprise personal protection equipment (PPE) and numerous medical materials.

Additionally, humanitarian organizations from Italy and other EU countries rely on the EU Humanitarian Air Bridge planes to transport supplies for supporting their projects in Somalia.

Recently, Somalia was hit hard by flash floods that created a humanitarian crisis after displacing hundreds of thousands of people around the country.

Consequently, humanitarian organizations have been supporting the displaced persons though that has been difficult because of the COVID-19 fears.
