Somalia Receives $43 Million from SHF and UNCERF for Combating Food Insecurity

Somalia received $43 million from the Somali Humanitarian Fund (SHF) and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF).

Both organizations delivered the funds to Somalia on Friday.

The funds would enable authorities in Somalia to combat the challenges brought about by food insecurity and drought.

Somalia has suffered the effects of one of its most devastating droughts in the last five years.

Failed rains have largely been responsible for the drought.

Germany will contribute $9 million out of the $43 million. Consequently, it becomes the second-largest and fourth-largest contributor to SHF and UNCERF respectively.
