Somalia Receives a Newly Built Dhobley Police Station from AMISOM

On Sunday, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) handed over a newly built police station to the Federal Government of Somalia.

The Danish government funded the construction of the new police station.

Its handing over is part of the Somalia Transition Plan, which AMISOM had formulated to guide the organization’s activities in the country upto 2021 when its mandate ends.

AMISOM has been in the Horn of Africa nation since its creation in 2007. Initially, it was to stay in the country for six months, before the African Union extended its mandate.

By building and handing the police station over to the government, AMISOM is fulfilling part of its mandate in the country by making towns such as Dhobley more secure and safer.

For several years now, Dhobley’s population has increased substantially, hence the need for more police presence to ensure that crime does not thrive in the region.
