Somalia has confirmed 136 new cases of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic that continues to ravage the world and disrupt normalcy.
In the last 48 hours, the Ministry of Health tested 2,666 samples from around the country.
Once again, Banadir with 60 cases had the highest numbers. Puntland followed with 48 while Somaliland (12), Galmudug (8), Jubaland (6), and Southwest (2) also recorded a few cases.
Out of these, 80 were males while 56 were females.
With these new numbers confirmed, the tally of COVID-19 cases in Somalia now stands at 16,535.
After 41 more people recovered from the disease, recoveries now stand at 8,010.
Meanwhile, the health ministry reported five new deaths. With these, Somalia has now recorded 897 deaths since the disease first broke out in the country last year.
