Somalia Records 252 New COVID-19 Cases

Somalia’s Ministry of Health published the latest data on COVID-19 on Sunday, August 22.

In the latest briefing, the health ministry announced that it had recorded 252 new COVID-19 cases from 4,517 samples tested in the last 72 hours.

Banadir led with 150 cases followed by Puntland with 61. Somaliland had 19 cases with Jubaland (10), Galmudug (9), and Southwest (3) making up the rest of the numbers.

As of today, Somalia now has 16,787 cases of the deadly pandemic.

The country recorded 21 new deaths thus pushing the tally of fatalities to 918.

With 67 fresh patients recovering from the disease, the East African nation has now taken its recoveries to 8,077.

Majority of the new cases (141) were male while the rest (111) were female.
