Somalia Records 266 New COVID-19 Cases

Somalia has recorded 266 new cases of the deadly COVID-19 disease in various parts of the country.

The Ministry of Health announced the new numbers on February 28.

As of the last day of February 2021, the East African nation had confirmed 7,257 COVID-19 cases since reporting the first one in March 2020.

Meanwhile, eight people lost their lives thus pushing the number of COVID-19 deaths to 239.

Since last month, Somalia has experienced resurgence of COVID-19 cases.

Once again, Banadir Region led with 141 of the cases followed by Puntland and Somaliland with 88 and 25 cases respectively.

Southwest had 4, Jubbaland 3, HirShabelle 3, and Galmudug 2.

The health ministry also reported that 163 of the new patients were male with females making up the remaining 103.
