Somalia has recorded 35 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic from samples tested in the last one week.
An update from the Ministry of Health confirmed these numbers on December 2.
The health ministry’s update indicates that Somalia tested 4,577 samples over the last seven days.
Somaliland, with 17 new patients, was responsible for the bulk of the cases while Banadir (9), Puntland (8), and Jubbaland (1) followed in that order.
The tally of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 23,051.
With four new deaths reported, Somalia now sees its tally of fatalities standing at 1,331.
Meanwhile, the health ministry informed the public that 279 more people recovered from the disease to take the tally of recoveries to 12,325.
