The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has rejected the request by Kenya for postponement of the maritime case.
Kenya wrote to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) asking for the postponement of the maritime case that Somalia filed.
The case was scheduled to kick off in March 2021.
There are fears that Kenya could have its way after convincing ICJ to postpone the case in three previous occasions.
ICJ agreed to postpone the case in September 2019, November 2019, and June 2020.
On February 11, Somalia issued a statement condemning the request by the Kenyan government to ICJ.
Somalia said that it needs an expedited resolution to this maritime case it filed against Kenya more than two years ago.
Kenya’s pursuit of yet another postponement comes amid falling diplomatic relations with its East Africa neighbor.
