Somalia has recorded 70 new cases of COVID-19 from samples tested in various parts of the country in the last 48 hours.
The country’s Ministry of Health announced fresh numbers on Saturday, August 14.
In its briefing, the health ministry said that the new cases were discovered from 1,858 samples tested on Friday and Saturday.
Banadir had the largest chunk of new cases with 48 followed by Puntland and Somalia with 17 and 5 cases respectively.
Thirty-five of the cases were male while the remaining 35 were female.
Additionally, the number of cases confirmed in the East African nation now stands at 16,265.
With eight new deaths reported, the tally of fatalities has now increased to 878.
On positive news, the health ministry confirmed that 25 people had fully recovered from the disease thus pushing the tally of recoveries to 7,913.
