MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s Senate has established a partnership agreement with the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), obtaining complete membership in the worldwide organization as part of initiatives to enhance the nation’s contribution to international peace efforts.
Upper House Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi welcomed a delegation headed by GCTP President Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Jarwan in the capital city, with both parties examining the function of legislative bodies in promoting tolerance, communication, and peace.
Hashi, accompanied by Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Ali Hersi Timacadde, noted that Somalia’s background in reconciliation and nation construction enables its governmental institutions to provide valuable input to worldwide discussions about settling disputes.
Al-Jarwan expressed appreciation for Somalia’s involvement, stating that the Council recognizes the nation’s viewpoint as it broadens its worldwide parliamentary connections across more than 100 countries.
Their meeting ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding awarding Somalia’s Upper House complete membership in the GCTP, a development anticipated to expand Somalia’s diplomatic influence and increase its involvement in worldwide initiatives fostering harmonious living and peaceful discussions.
