Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia and Saudi Arabia have reached an understanding to enhance cooperation focused on reinforcing parliamentary institutions and accelerating development and reconstruction initiatives.
This agreement emerged from discussions between Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, and Saudi Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohamed Almowallad, with both parties indicating that strengthened collaboration would result in tangible support for governance reforms and state capacity-building.
The increased Saudi support is anticipated to enhance the functionality of Somalia’s parliament, bolster legislative oversight, and advance broader political stability, which is a crucial element for sustainable development and investor confidence.
The partnership also emphasizes Saudi Arabia’s contribution to humanitarian aid and social services, areas of continued importance as Somalia progresses through post-conflict recovery and institutional transformation. Both nations expressed that ongoing collaboration would assist Somalia in solidifying state-building achievements and fortifying its regional and international alliances.
