Somalia Seeks Stronger Cooperation on Immigration and Security with Tanzania

Dar es Salaam — Tanzania’s Department of Immigration Services Commissioner General, Dr. Anna Makakala, held talks with Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community, Ilyas Ali Hassan.

Their meeting was at the agency’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

According to a statement released after the meeting, the two officials discussed deepening cooperation on key areas including immigration, trade, and security.

They reaffirmed their countries’ strong relationship and mutual commitment to providing efficient services to citizens and enhancing bilateral collaboration.

Both sides emphasized the importance of working closely to streamline immigration processes, bolster regional security, and promote trade and movement across borders.

The meeting reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties between Somalia and Tanzania under the broader East African Community framework.

The two agreed to continue engagements that support regional integration and bolster their partnership for long-term economic and security benefits.
