Somalia Seeks Stronger Diplomatic Relations with Ukraine

Somalia’s diplomatic landscape reflects a strategic effort to engage with key global partners.

On Wednesday, two senior ministers from both nations discussed ways of improving diplomatic relations between their respective countries.

Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi’s phone discussion with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering cooperation, as noted by Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ukraine’s statement further highlighted Mogadishu’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, signaling Somalia’s stance on international territorial integrity.

At the same time, Somalia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Abdulkadir Zubeyr, has arrived in Moscow to strengthen bilateral relations with Russia.

This dual engagement illustrates Somalia’s balanced foreign policy approach, seeking to expand partnerships while maintaining neutrality and addressing its national interests.
