Somalia Signs a Water Resource Cooperation Agreement with Egypt

Somalia and Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in water resource management.

The agreement focuses on strengthening collaboration in areas such as water resource development, management of shared water systems, and technical expertise exchange.

This MoU is particularly significant given the shared interest in sustainable water management in the region.

Egypt, which has extensive experience in water resource management, is expected to provide technical and institutional support to Somalia, a country that faces recurrent challenges related to water scarcity and climate change.

The agreement aligns with Somalia’s broader strategy to bolster partnerships that enhance national capacity for resource management and resilience against environmental challenges.

It also reflects Egypt’s commitment to fostering bilateral ties with Somalia and supporting stability and development efforts in the Horn of Africa.
