Somalia Signs CTBT

The Somali government has signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).

With the signature, Somalia became the 187th member or nation to sign the treaty.

The signing ceremony took place on September 8 in New York.

Abukar Dahir Osman, Somalia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, signed the treaty on behalf of the East African nation.

He was with David Nanopoulos.

The latter signed it in his capacity as the Chief of the UN Office of Legal Affairs’ Treaty Section.

Somalia’s decision to sign the treaty is a testament to its unwavering commitment to peace and security globally.
