Somalia Signs its Inaugural Decent Work Country Programme

Somalia has signed its inaugural Decent Work Country Programme. The East African nation signed the programme this month.

Several government institutions and agencies joined the International Labour Organization (ILO) at the signing ceremony.

Some of these included the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Federation of Somali Trade Unions (FESTU).

Consequently, these organizations and the labour ministry vow to work together to implement the programme in the country.

Through the programme, Somalia hopes to not only combat high unemployment but also enhance social dialogue and protection.
