Mogadishu, Somalia – Minister of Communications and Technology Mohamed Adam Moalim Ali Somali has convened a high-level strategic meeting with executives from Somalia’s leading telecommunications companies to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and strengthen inclusive connectivity.
The meeting, held in Mogadishu, brought together senior representatives from major telecom operators, regulators, and technology partners to review the sector’s progress and identify solutions to emerging challenges. The discussions focused on expanding digital infrastructure, improving regulatory frameworks, and promoting innovation that benefits both urban and rural communities.
The minister emphasized that Somalia’s digital future depends on strong collaboration between the government and private sector. He highlighted the vital role telecom companies play in driving economic growth, facilitating e-governance, and connecting citizens to essential services.
“Digital transformation is not just about technology—it’s about inclusion, opportunity, and empowerment for every Somali,” he said.
Executives welcomed the government’s commitment to building a secure and competitive digital ecosystem, noting ongoing efforts to expand broadband coverage, enhance data protection, and ensure fair market practices. The minister urged operators to maintain affordable pricing and improve service quality to meet growing consumer demand, particularly as Somalia’s digital economy continues to expand.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to align industry priorities with the government’s National ICT Strategy, ensuring that digital connectivity becomes a cornerstone of Somalia’s long-term development agenda.
