The National Communications Authority (NCA) of Somalia has signed two pivotal Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and CyberSecurity Malaysia.
These agreements mark a significant step toward strengthening Somalia’s digital governance, regulatory framework, and cybersecurity infrastructure.
The first MOU, signed with MCMC, focuses on bolstering technical cooperation, capacity building, and regulatory development in the field of communications.
This partnership is expected to provide the NCA with critical expertise and support as Somalia modernizes its telecommunications sector and aligns its digital policies with global standards.
The second MOU, concluded with CyberSecurity Malaysia, aims to enhance Somalia’s cybersecurity posture through knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and technical support.
Given the growing cyber threats facing both public and private sectors, this collaboration will help Somalia build a resilient digital ecosystem capable of protecting its national digital assets and infrastructure.
Through these strategic partnerships, Somalia seeks to leverage Malaysia’s experience and best practices in digital regulation and cyber defense to accelerate its digital transformation and improve public trust in digital services.
