Somalia Submits 2024 Audit Reports for 22 World Bank-Funded Projects

The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (OAG) has officially announced the timely submission of audit reports for 22 development projects funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) during the 2024 fiscal year.

According to the OAG, all audit reports were submitted within the stipulated timeframe and shared with the World Bank, as well as the relevant government ministries and institutions overseeing the projects. The audits are part of Somalia’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and strong financial oversight in the management of international donor funds.

“These timely submissions reflect our ongoing dedication to strengthening public financial management and upholding international standards of audit integrity,” said the Auditor General’s Office in a statement posted today.

The projects span key development sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and public financial management reforms. Most are implemented under the global institution’s International Development Association (IDA) financing windows and are critical to Somalia’s post-conflict recovery and state-building agenda.

The timely audit completion also signals progress in the government’s broader public sector reform goals, which include improved budget execution, enhanced service delivery, and the fight against corruption.

The World Bank and international development partners have consistently emphasized the importance of robust audit mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness of aid in fragile and conflict-affected states like Somalia.

This year’s timely submission is viewed as a positive step toward deepening donor confidence, attracting further investment, and reinforcing Somalia’s path toward fiscal self-reliance and institutional resilience.
