Somalia Suspends All International Flights Over COVID-19

In the next 15 days, Somalia will not allow any international flights into the country, the Federal Government of Somalia (FSG) has announced.

FSG says the move will help curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Earlier this week, the ministry in charge of civil aviation in the country had instituted a ban on all flights from countries affected by COVID-19 only.

However, the latest news shows that the ministry has now escalated the ban to cover all international flights.

Over the next two weeks, no international flight will arrive in or take off from Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle Airport.

The flight ban takes effect from March 18, 2020 and will affect airlines from countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Qatar, Turkey, and Ethiopia, which operate international flights in Somalia.
