Mogadishu, Somalia – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced on Friday that the government will issue school completion certificates to students who missed the Grade 12 national exams during the 2015/2016 academic year.
The decision impacts approximately 28,000 students from that academic year who were unable to take their exams due to various educational disruptions. These students will now receive certificates despite not completing the examinations.
The cabinet endorsed a proposal from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education to provide the certificates based on official student records maintained by the ministry.
According to the education ministry, all necessary student information is available, enabling the implementation of this decision in an organized and trustworthy manner.
This goal of the initiative is to support educational advancement and ensure that affected students are not permanently hindered, providing them with an equal opportunity to progress academically and professionally.
Prime Minister Barre advised students and parents to utilize this opportunity and emphasized the importance of continuing education for building brighter futures.
