Somalia will be admitted to East African Community (EAC) before the end of the year.
Officials from the EAC Secretariat are scheduled to visit Mogadishu later this month for further consultations.
Upon joining, Somalia would be the regional bloc’s eighth member.
Somalia joins a year after the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), whose admission to EAC took place early last year.
After negotiations, the Secretariat would then submit a report to the Council of Ministers and another one to the EAC Heads of State.
A final decision would then be made thereafter.
