Somalia to Benefit from the €4.1 Million Donated to Flood Victims in East Africa

Somalia is set to benefit from the €4.1 million that the European Union (EU) has donated to flood victims in East Africa.

The EU announced that it would be donating the funds to support victims of flood in Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Uganda.

EU’s humanitarian support is crucial for a region that has suffered unimaginable losses as flooding continues to wreak havoc.

On Monday September 21, EU released a statement indicating that it would channel the funds through several humanitarian organizations in the affected East African nations.

Further, the new wave of funds is different from the €3 million that the EU had already released to address the humanitarian needs of flood victims in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

Janez Lenarcic, the Commissioner for Crisis Management, said, “EU stands with the victims of the incessant flooding in East Africa.”

Lenarcic mentioned that the money would be distributed to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by floods in the Horn of Africa region.
