Somalia’s cabinet ministers met yesterday in Mogadishu under the leadership of the newly appointed Acting Prime Minister Mahdi M. Gulaid and announced plans to ease some of the COVID-19 restrictions.
According to a statement released after the meeting, the cabinet issued the green light for easing some of the restrictions from August. The country imposed several measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus five months ago.
As per the statement, lockdown and curfews would not be as strict as they are now. Further, the government has allowed the resumption of international flights from August 3 while schools and universities are likely to reopen from August 15.
