The Federal Republic of Somalia is scheduled to receive up to 1.2 million doses of the Oxford AstraZaneca vaccine for treating COVID-19.
This was revealed on February 3 by Mamunur Rahman Malik, the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative for Somalia.
Malik revealed the news during an interview with Voice of America (VOA) Somalia.
According to Malik, the East African nation is scheduled to use the first dose on the more than 600,000 frontline health workers.
The first dose is expected in Somalia this month.
Thereafter, the country would receive more doses between March and April to vaccinate around 20 percent of its population.
