Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, held a constructive meeting with Somalia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Abdikadir Ali, to discuss avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two nations in the areas of youth development and sports. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on launching joint initiatives, capacity-building programs, and sports infrastructure projects aimed at empowering Somali youth.
Ali expressed deep appreciation for China’s longstanding support to Somalia, particularly in key areas such as infrastructure, education, and humanitarian aid. He noted that youth and sports represent critical pillars for peacebuilding, social cohesion, and national development in Somalia, and emphasized the value of China’s potential contribution in these areas.
Amb. Wang Yu reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s youth sector, highlighting the shared interest in promoting mutual understanding and people-to-people connections. The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to explore concrete partnerships and deepen bilateral cooperation under the framework of China-Africa friendship.
