Somalia to Unveil an Ambitious Plan to Lift Economy Post-COVID

Somalia has announced ambitious plans to lift its economy in the post-COVID-19 period, according the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development.

Ambassador Gamal M. Hassan, the Minister of Planning, said the country has already devised ambitious plans for economic reforms.

Prior to the outbreak of the deadly disease in the Horn of Africa country, its economy was projected to grow by 3.2 percent.

In 2018, its economy grew by 2.8 percent followed by 2.9 percent in 2019.

Ambassador Gamal mentions some of the measures to be put in place in an interview with CNBC Africa on August 12.

He says the government is already investing more to make the country attractive to foreign investors while creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
