Somalia, UK Endorse Year 3 Workplan of Stability Fund Phase III

Mogadishu – The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, co-chaired the High-Level Steering Committee (HLSC) meeting of the Somalia Stability Fund Phase III (SSF III) with the British Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King.

The high-level meeting marked a key milestone by validating the third-year workplan for the ongoing stabilization initiative.

The SSF III, a multi-donor program, supports Somalia’s peacebuilding agenda through reconciliation, state-building, and community stabilization projects. The newly endorsed workplan outlines strategic activities for the third year of the fund’s implementation, focusing on deepening federalism, enhancing local governance structures, and promoting inclusive reconciliation processes across Somalia’s Federal Member States.

Hosh emphasized the critical role the SSF III continues to play in Somalia’s nation-building journey.

“This partnership reflects our shared vision of building a peaceful, united Somalia with strong institutions and responsive local governance,” he stated.

Ambassador King reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to Somalia’s stabilization goals, noting, “The SSF remains a vital instrument for addressing drivers of conflict and strengthening ties between citizens and their governments. The third-year workplan aligns with our mutual priorities of reconciliation, accountability, and service delivery.”

The meeting brought together senior government officials, international partners, and representatives from civil society, all of whom expressed support for the program’s direction. The validation of the workplan paves the way for coordinated implementation of key interventions in 2025.

Since its launch, the Somalia Stability Fund has played a pivotal role in restoring trust between communities and government institutions by supporting locally led peacebuilding initiatives and improving access to essential services in conflict-affected areas.
