Somalia Welcomes New Ambassadors from Ghana and Ethiopia

Mogadishu, Somalia — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Ali, has officially received the letters of credence from two newly appointed ambassadors during separate ceremonies held in Mogadishu.

Dr. Robert Afriyie, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Somalia, and Suleiman Dedefo Woshe, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, presented their credentials to Ali, marking the formal start of their diplomatic missions in Somalia.

During the meetings, Ali extended a warm welcome to both envoys, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

In his discussion with Amb. Afriyie, the minister praised the longstanding ties between Somalia and Ghana and expressed hope for enhanced collaboration in areas such as trade, education, and continental peacebuilding under the framework of the African Union (AU).

In a separate meeting, Ali received Amb. Dedefo of Ethiopia. The two sides exchanged views on shared regional interests and the importance of mutual respect and constructive engagement, especially amid recent tensions following Ethiopia’s controversial Red Sea port deal.

The credentials ceremonies signify Somalia’s continuing diplomatic outreach and its intent to foster meaningful partnerships across Africa and beyond.

Both ambassadors expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to work closely with the Somali government to advance mutual interests during their respective tenures.
