Somalia will be free of all terrorists by 2024.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said this while addressing the 32nd Arab League Summit on Friday.
He is in Jeddah to attend the summit for the Arab League Heads of State and Governments.
The President informed the Summit that his administration has liberated 80 cities and regions from the control of Al-Shabaab.
Somali National Army (SNA) and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops have carried out several counterterrorism operations around the country since May 2023.
They have received help from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) too.
Local communities allowed their militia to join the military too in these offensives.
