Somalia’s Abdihafid Abdi has won the Best Player of the Tournament award at the just-concluded Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) U17 tourney.
Abdi won the prestigious award after leading his side to victory in the finals of the 2022 CECAFA U17 tournament, which took place in Ethiopia.
The skillful forward mesmerized opponents’ defenses with some wonderful skills and silky touches during the tournament.
He now gets a chance to showcase his wide range of skills at the top level when the Somalia U17 team takes part in next year’s AFCON U17 championships in Algeria.
It was a triple delight when Abdikadir Mohamed Marshale won the Best Goalkeeper of the CECAFA U17 award.
Marshale is the Somalia U17 goalkeeper. His daring saves, wonderful ball distribution, and commanding presence helped the team to win the cup.
