Abdullahi Godah Barre, Somalia’s Acting Minister of Education, escaped an attempt on his life by extremists.
In the Sunday evening incident, Barre was in a convoy traveling between Beled Hawo and Dolow, two towns located in the Gedo region.
The visit was not strange since Members of Parliament and top government officials have been visiting the region to launch various development projects.
While en route to Dolow, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) targeting Barre’s convoy blasted through the quiet evening.
Fortunately, Barre escaped unhurt.
Additionally, none of the people in his convoy also suffered any injuries though they were badly shaken by the explosion.
No group has come out to claim responsibility for the blast that could have ended Barre’s life this past weekend, though.
