Somalia’s Acting Prime Minister Chairs First Cabinet Meeting

Somalia’s newly appointed Prime Minister Mahdi M. Gulaid chaired his first cabinet meeting on Sunday in Mogadishu.

The meeting touched on various issues of national importance that included improving security and managing COVID-19 response better.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Gulaid led the cabinet ministers in talking about and vowing to improve delivery of services to all Somalis during the transitional period.

During the meeting, the ministers expressed their gratitude to Somalia’s international partners for their contribution to building and developing the country.

However, Gulaid requested the international community to respect Somalia’s sovereignty and constitution.

His remarks come hot in the wake of the condemnation from the international community at the manner in which Hassan Ali Khaire was ousted as the Prime Minister.

Gulaid reassured members of the international community that the Federal Government of Somalia remains committed to the country’s progress.
