The decades-long arms embargo against Somalia will be lifted by next month.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said this while addressing parliament on Saturday.
He returned from Arusha where he saw Somalia admitted to the East African Community (EAC).
Today, he opened the 4th session of the first meeting of the federal parliament.
In his address, the President said that he had received assurance of the impending lifting of the arms embargo.
The United Nations imposed the embargo over 30 years ago. Somalia has repeatedly sought reprieve without any success.
