Somalia’s Army Chief Bans Civilians from Donning Military Attire

Brig. Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rageh, the Chief of Somali National Army (SNA), has banned civilians from donning military attire.

The Chief of Armed Forces warned that any civilian caught wearing military uniform would be punished heavily.

Further, Brig. Gen. Odowaa warned that any civilian-owned car painted with military colors or camouflage would be confiscated.

He said that the law does not allow any civilian in Somalia to paint civilian vehicles with military camouflage.

The Chief also spoke out against civilians who like to pose as members of the country’s defense forces. He asked them to cease from that to avoid arrest and prosecution.

Somali army has been battling Al-Shabaab militants who are notorious for wearing military fatigue while posing as members of the defense forces.
