Somalia’s Army Chief Denies Military Was Involved in the Murder of 8 Health Workers

Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Ragheh, the Chief of the Armed Forces in Somalia, has denied reports that the military was involved in the abduction and brutal murder of eight health workers.

Speaking during a press conference held in Adado, Gen. Ragheh said that the army was not involved in that despicable act, which has been condemned roundly across the board.

Representatives of the World Health Organization, United Nations, United States, and the European Union representatives in Somalia have spoken out against the horrid deaths.

The Army Chief has promised comprehensive investigations that lead to the capture and prosecution of the people responsible for the deaths of the health workers.

Eight health workers were abducted in Gololoey Village last Thursday only for their mutilated bodies to be discovered a day later dumped by the roadside.
