The Attorney General is to question the country’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources over the oil deal that Somalia signed with a United States firm.
Attorney General Sulayman Mohamoud is scheduled to interview Engineer Abdirashid M. Ahmed over the oil deal.
Somalia signed the oil deal with Coastline Exploration Ltd, a Texas-based company.
Eng. Ahmed signed the deal on Somalia’s behalf in Istanbul in 2021.
The minister has often said that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble knew about the entire process.
He stated that they also knew about the signing of the deal.
Farmaajo and Roble both spoke out against the deal last year when it was announced.
Attorney General Mohamoud is expected to seek answers from the minister regarding the people who knew about the deal.
He meets with the minister on Monday, April 25.
