Somalia’s Auditor General Highly Praised for Advancing Financial Transparency at EAC Meeting

At the 47th East African Community (EAC) Council of Ministers meeting in Arusha, Secretary General Veronica Mueni Nduva of the East African Community (EAC) commended Somalia for its growing influence and commitment to regional economic integration.

She particularly applauded the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia for its pivotal role in strengthening financial accountability and transparency—a key pillar in fostering trust and good governance within the bloc.

“Somalia has demonstrated remarkable progress in institutional reforms, particularly in public financial management,” Nduva remarked.

“The Auditor General’s office has been instrumental in ensuring fiscal discipline, which is critical for the EAC’s collective economic growth.”

The recognition underscores Somalia’s deepening engagement with the EAC since joining the regional body, as it continues to align its governance frameworks with regional standards.

The meeting also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance cross-border cooperation, anti-corruption measures, and harmonized financial oversight—priorities that Somalia has actively supported.

This acknowledgment signals growing confidence in Somalia’s reforms and its potential to contribute to the EAC’s vision of a more integrated and transparent East Africa.
