Somalia’s Auditor General Lodges Appeal against Petroleum Ministry with Attorney General

Somalia’s Office of the Auditor-General has lodged an appeal with the Attorney General against the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The Auditor-General took this measure following the announcement by the petroleum ministry that Somalia signed a gas and oil exploration agreement with a Texas firm.

The petroleum minister, Engineer Abdirashid Ahmed, publicized the seven gas and oil exploration agreements with Coastline Exploration Ltd over the weekend.

According to the Auditor General, the petroleum ministry breached the law.

The Auditor-General termed the deal with the United States firm an “unlawful agreement.”

Consequently, it would like the Attorney General to take the matter up with the intention of prosecuting those behind the deal.
