Somalia’s candidate for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson has announced that she will not be pressured to remove herself from next year’s election.
Fawzia Yusuf H. Adam made the startling announcement on Thursday.
The candidate added that the pressure to leave the race in favor of Djiboutian Mahmoud Ali Youssouf was from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
She added that the two leaders pressured her from last month.
Adam made these allegations in a televised statement.
She vowed not to abandon the race adding that Somalia has a great chance of winning the race in the elections scheduled for February 2025.
