Somalia’s COVID-19 Cases Passes the 9,000-Mark

The number of COVID-19 cases in Somalia has now surpassed the 9,000-mark for the first time.

On March 14, the Ministry of Health recorded 244 new cases.

The new cases emanated from 2,028 samples that the ministry’s officials tested over the last 24 hours.

Sadly, 18 new deaths were recorded thus pushing the tally of fatalities to 367.

With the new numbers published on Sunday, Somalia has now confirmed 9,190 cases of the deadly disease since March last year when it recorded the first one.

Puntland was responsible for 152 of the new cases reported on Sunday.

Somaliland and Banadir recorded 45 and 29 cases respectively.

Jubbaland, HirShabelle, and Galmudug recorded 7, 6, and 3 cases while Southwest State had 2 cases.

The health ministry said that 153 of the cases were male while the remaining 91 were female.
