Somalia’s COVID-19 Cases Rise to 1,502

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health announced that COVID-19 cases in Somalia had reached 1,502.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, delivered the news during her daily t government officers in the country. spread of the pandemic that has broughtupdates to the country on what has become a global pandemic.

While issuing the latest update, Dr. Abikar also confirmed 47 new COVID-19 cases.

According to the health ministry, 19 of the new cases are from Puntland. Banadir has 13 while Somaliland and Southwest have 8 and 7 fresh cases respectively.

Further, the health minister announced two more COVID-19 deaths, which brings the number of people to have succumbed to the virulent disease in the country to 59.

Additionally, Dr. Abikar announced 15 more recoveries, which pushes the number of total recoveries in the country to 178.

As per the latest data from the health ministry, 42 of the new cases are men with the remainder being women.

Somalia announced its first COVID-19 case on March 16, 2020. Since then, the country has instituted various measures to curb the spread of the disease that has hit it hard.
