Somalia’s Defense Minister Discusses Military Cooperation with AFRICOM Commander

Somalia’s Minister of Defense held a meeting with the new Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Mogadishu.

Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, the federal minister, met with General Michael Langley on Monday, August 29.

The minister and the new AFRICOM Commander discussed several issues including military cooperation between the US and Somalia.

Further, they spoke about strengthening US support for the ongoing fight that Somali National Army (SNA) has launched against Al-Shabaab terrorists.

Gen. Langley is AFRICOM’s new boss.

He has taken over from Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, whose reign as the AFRICOM boss lasted from July 26, 2019 to August 8, 2022.
